This marinade makes them very tender and flavorful.

Feel free to add or remove ingredients to this marinade, but everything used is a pantry/fridge staple, so most people won't have any issues finding the ingredients.

Your pork chop marinade needs some oil (olive or vegetable) to bond the ingredients together and lock up the moisture. I usually use olive oil.

A good pork marinade (or any meat marinade) usually calls for acid – either lemon juice, which will break up the food surface and lets the meat absorb the marinade very well. It is important to mention that acid should be used in moderation, because it can make the meat mushy.

Once I used too much lemon juice for a pork marinade and I let the meat marinate for over one day in the fridge – the result was a disaster. Mushy meat that had to be thrown away.

Here is the hero ingredient – something carbonated and bubbly – beer in this Beer Marinated Grilled Pork Chops Recipe. Beer not only gently tenderizes the meat, but it also creates another layer of flavor that in combination with the other spices makes it very juicy and delicious.

Spices that go well with port are a must in a pork chop marinade. I usually use some garlic powder, onion powder (or fresh onion), cumin, paprika and parsley. What other spices go well with pork? Thyme, smoked paprika, dill, rosemary, caraway and corriander.

What kind of beer to use to for a pork chop marinade? What beer is best for a marinade?

This is a great question. When it comes to marinating meat with beer, it is important to choose the right one.

Lager beer, such as Pilsner is great for marinade. It can guard against the formation of PAHs.

Ale beers and Corona also work for marinating pork chops.

Dark beer like Guinness will also work in the recipe, just keep in mind that it may create a different flavor.

PORK CHOPS MARINATED WITH BEER. Can you marinate pork in beer overnight?

Yes, you can leave these boneless pork chops in the beer marinade for up tp 8-12 hours (overnight). Please do not leave the meat in the marinade for longer, it might become mushy.

What is the safe temperature to consume pork chops?

Minimum of 145 F according to the USDA, but to be safe cook pork chops until the internal temperature reaches 160 F.

How long to grill pork chops on a gas grill for?

The answer is – it depends on the thickness of the chops,

Cuts of boneless pork chops:

Boneless pork chops generally come in two different thicknesses – thick and thin cut. Thin cuts also vary greatly, from 1/4-inch to 1/2 inch thickness.

Thick cut – 1 to 1 1/2 -inches thick.

Thin cut – around 1/2-inches thick or less.

This is why cooking time may vary greatly, depending mainly on the thickness and the temperature of the oven/grill.

Grill thin pork chops for 5 minutes per side over medium-high heat, until the internal temperature is 160 F. (Use your judgement, every girl is different).

Grill thick cut pork chops at medium-high heat for 6-9 minutes per side, until the internal temperature reaches 160 F (I cook mine to 170 F, because we like them well done). (Use your judgement, every girl is different).

Thick cut pork chops usually benefit from marinating and are easy to cook on the grill.

HOW TO MAKE MARINATED PORK CHOPS?

  1. Combine all ingredients for marinade in a large bowl.

  2. Add pork chops and marinate for 30 minutes to 1 hour. Or up to 12 hours (overnight). Please do not marinade any longer than 12 hours.

  3. Grill on medium high for 6-8 minutes per side, until the internal temperature of the meat reaches 160 F.

  4. You can also pan sear the chops if you don't like to grill them. I recommend using canola oil for pan searing. Let them cook for 3-4 minutes per side on medium to high heat. Cooking time depends on the thickness of the meat.

HOW TO COOK PORK CHOPS?

There are different methods of cooking pork chops and it all depends on the cut of meat and your personal preference.

Pork chops can be grilled, broiled, pan seared or oven baked, depending on the cut of pork and your preference. Please check this post out for more pork chop recipes and cooking ideas.

WHAT ARE BONELESS PORK CHOPS AND WHAT IS THE BEST WAY TO COOK THEM?

Boneless Pork Chops – this is one of my favorite pork cuts. These chops are lean and come from the loin close to the head. I usually marinate them, but you can just cook them seasoned. They are not as flavorful as bone-in pork chops, but a great alternative.

Marinating boneless pork chops in a good, acidic marinade will make them tender, break up the surface of the meat so they absorb the marinade.

You need to be careful not to overcook them. Cooking on a hot grill quickly is the best option. You can also pan sear the chops or bake them, but just until they reach the safe temperature of 160 F. I usually cook mine to 165-170 F.
