Downsides of a Flat Coat Goldendoodle
Getting a straight or flat coat Goldendoodle does have some downsides compared to a typical wavy to curly haired Goldendoodle.
- Flat coat Goldendoodles tend to shed a lot more than wavy or curly haired Goldendoodles. This is because flatter coats contain less Poodle genetics which makes the dog have a curlier coat. Be prepared to have hair that sheds on your floor. However, a flat coat Goldendoodle tends to shed significantly less than their Golden Retriever counterparts.
- Straight Coat Goldendoodles tend to be less hypoallergenic. Due to having more Golden Retriever genetics and less Poodle genetics, straight coat Goldendoodles will be less hypoallergenic.
